Les Lignes-mobiles

Ordinateur, vidéoprojecteur, caméra, algorithme de vision et suivi, algorithme d'entité artificielle, algorithme de dessin.

Installation, conçue pour s'insérer dans la réalité d'un lieu public.

Conçu en 1999, et exposé pour la première fois dans l'Exposition Interférences des Nuits Savoureuses, Festival International d'Art Multimedia Urbain, organisé par le CICV, à Belfort du 14 au 20 décembre 2000

Prix: Premier Prix des installations extérieures des Nuits Savoureuses 2000.

Des lignes blanches autonomes vivent dans un large espace au sol. Elles réagissent aux passants, incarnant leurs chemins passés et futurs proches. Autonomes et interactives, elles jouent avec leurs déplacements, anticipant et s'adaptant, les renvoyant à leur propre libre-arbitre.

Les Lignes-mobiles est une installation interactive conçues pour s'insérer dans la réalité d'un lieu public, et découlant d'un concept simple: un vidéoprojecteur projette des lignes au sol, à la fois par rapport aux passants et de manière autonome, improvisée par un ordinateur. Ces lignes concrétisent, de manière signalétique, des liens ou des directions pour les passants eux-mêmes ou entre eux.

Les lignes sont blanches, minimales, fluides, semi-autonomes, et sensibles aux passants. Elles apparaissent et disparaissent, se croisent en arabesques. Elles choisissent des passants et s'attachent à eux jusqu'à leur sortie de la zone de projection, les suivent ou les précèdent dans leurs mouvements. Elles tendent à créer des liens entre eux. Les Lignes-mobiles instaurent une zone d'interactions, d'interférence entre des passants choisis au hasard, ou entre un passant et la ligne qui s'est attachée à lui.

Les Lignes-mobiles est une installation destinée à être adaptée à la dynamique du lieu d'installation: passant ou errant, lent ou rapide, croisement ou chemin, etc...

Designed in 1999, and exhibited for the first time in the Interferences of the Nuits Savoureuses, International Festival of Multimedia Urban Art, curated by the CICV, in Belfort (France), December 14 to 20 2000.

Prizes: First Prize for the outdoor installations in the Nuits Savoureuses 2000.

White autonomous lines live in a large space on the ground. They react to the passers-by, incarnating their near past and future paths. Autonomous and interactive, they play with their movements, anticipating and adapting, confronting them with their own free will.

Les Lignes-mobiles (The mobile-lines) is an interactive installation designed to insert itself in the reality of a public place, and which stems from a simple concept: a videoprojector projects lines on the floor, both according to the passers-by and in an autonomous way, improvised by a computer. These lines concretize, in a signaletic way, links and directions for the passers-by themselves or between them.

The lines are white, minimal, fluid, semi-autonomous, and sensitive to the passers-by. They appear and disappear, cross in arabesques. They choose some passers-by and get attached to them until they leave the projection zone, following them or preceeding them in their movement. They tend to create links between them. Les Lignes-mobiles set up an interaction zone, an interference zone between passers-by chosen at random, or between a passer-by and the line that got attached to him.

Les Lignes-mobiles is an installation designed to be adapted to the dynamic of the installation place: wandering or not, fast or slow, crossing or path, etc..
